ANNY GRAPHO

Who are you ?

At 21, I have a degree from ESMOD Paris with an accessories specialization and I am from Paris. After working for a year as a jewelry designer, I now specialise in Footwear at the Institut Français de la Mode, but my love for Accessories in general encouraged me to collaborate with ZED.

Why ZED ?

The ZED adventure is both a thrilling and inspiring project. Plus it is a different way of creating. The brand brought both of my passions together: leather goods and illustration. It was also a great way for me to develop my graphic style and see how customers respond to it.

Where did it start ?

After a difficult breakup, illustration seemed to be the only thing that felt good and true, and soon became a way of coping for me. I wanted to turn my pain into something beautiful and express it materially. From there started a series of illustrations about relationships, feminism and girl issues in general. Women have always been at the centre of my work. I experimented a bit with different graphic styles and techniques before finding my style: black and white, simple, straight to the point and always with a bit of writing.

Inspirations

René Gruau, illustrator, as well as Ai Yazawa, mangaka, captured my attention. The world of tattoing graphically influences me as well.  I am also very inspired by my travels : Japan, China, Denmark, Portugal, and lately Greece. I try to incorporate some of those influences in illustrations or other works.

COLINE

Who are you ?

My name is Coline, aka @colineries on Instagram. I am a midwife student in Paris, passionate about my studies. I am 22 and consider myself a neo-artist.

Why ZED ?

I met Julia, the Founder, a few years back and I have since followed her journey with ZED through social media in particular. I love the universe of colors and plural. I also the idea of gathering Artists from different horizons. Thus, I am thrilled to be a part of the adventure as the first embroiderer !

Where did it start ?

In 2019, my best friend embroidered a shirt for me and I fell in love with it. In 2020, a certain Mister covid passed by and I had hours and hours of lockdown to occupy. I took all the shirts I could find in my home, some thread and needles at the back of my wardrobe & started embroidering. It turned into a passion very quickly. I love learning about new stitches, discovering inspiring artists & channel my energy through embroidery.

Inspirations

Minimalist tattoo artists, others like Andrea Kollar, embroiderers like Virginie Renault, but also my everyday life.

DARK

Who are you ?

I am Dark, street artist and French calligrapher. I have been working in the art world for multiple years through diverse projects, from realisation of mural frescos to object customisation or even creation of pieces for exhibitions.

Why ZED ?

As an artist, I love knowing that my creation possibilities are infinite, and each of them different. That is why I immediately agreed to collaborate with ZED. I make a point of honour to always be open to any offer in order to discover new things and broaden the scope of possibilities.

Where did it start ?

A bit by accident, by chance maybe? During my high school years, I crossed paths with a graffiti artist with whom I became friends and who transmitted his constant will to create. The rest developed itself quite genuinely through my study years in artistic direction (graphic design). I now work independently as an artist.

Inspirations

A bit of everything. As much museum art as "street" or graphic inspirations. I often go to exhibitions. Also, nature itself is an extremely interesting subject of inspiration.

HADOONI

Who are you ?

A blonde girl with an old soul, young heart, half a law degree, and one superpower : my blood type is “B-artistic".

Why ZED ?

For Julia. For being the first person & brand that truly believed in my style. ZED gave me the power to grow as an artist, and just having this one first opportunity, pushed me to accomplish so much more later on. So, ZED the brand (and also Zed, the mother) you’re both doing a great job.

Where did it start ?

I would like to believe it all started at the beginning of time … Or at least at the beginning of my own personal time, to be more accurate. I can’t remember the first time I drew something or painted something (I’m sure it looked like - man discovers fire -) but it must have been pretty epic, because I also can’t remember a time when I didn’t enjoy doing something creative, or artistic. Of course my art has evolved through the years, and I went from crayons on paper, to acrylic paint on leather, but one thing remained the same : all I see, everywhere, is colors and shapes, and for me, the definition of something “beautiful” is when the colors and shapes complement each other in order to create a perfectly chaotic harmony. That’s where it all started. When Nadine discovered colors and shapes.

Inspirations

I believe that my inspiration comes from within. My designs are a mix of symbols, colors, shapes, lines, that are probably a refection of my thoughts or emotions. I can’t quite explain it. I usually just start drawing shapes that I fill in with colors until I am satisfied with the result. But of course I have some favorite artists, from Paul Signac to Alec Monopoly, I really love Pop art, Andy Warhol, Roy Liechtenstein, also any form of street & urban art, and some upcoming artists like Romero Britto or Leona Rose.

JUSTINE GERMOND

Who are you ?

Born and bread in Paris, I left the city to integrate Central Saint Martins in London, where I study 3D Fine Art practice. This program allows me to develop the relation between space and composition through materials. My eyes and brain first catch colours and shapes. This is why I am mainly inspired by what i see surrounding me and then concerned by what it is made of.

My experience in a boarding school in England when I was younger was the most productive year of my life artwise. There, I benefited from complete immersion into a multicultural environment. It is also where I had my first practical approach of art which triggered my desire to pursue in that direction. Beside this passion, I feel happiest when I am in the South of France or when I cook. My passion for food even lead me to participate in a digital “culinary art community” based in Paris.

Why ZED ?

Studying sculpture and in love with painting, I found that customizing ZED pieces is an interesting and different way to mix both. I also like the idea of working with materials I am not used to : fabrics and leather instead of raw materials.

Where did it start ?

Since I was little girl, I have developed my eye and taste for Art while surveying galleries, museums and antique fairs with my family. Discovering about this multi-faceted world fuelled my desire to make a life commitment out of this passion. It took me a long time to find the path best suited for me. I did ceramics, drawings, painting, learnt about perspective, textiles gravure to finally realize I wanted to make and create things with my hands and work fully with materials.

Inspirations

My inspiration comes from colours and shapes, whether it is in space, art pieces, or outdoors locations. To me, Bacon, Alberola and Adami’s painting works are an ideal aesthetic balance of it. I am also a huge fan of Georgia Russel’s Louise Bourgeois and Richard Serra’s (among others) 3D work.

MARGUERITE W.

Who are you ?

Marguerite Waechter, from France, 20 years old. I study Archaeology at University College London. Archaeology indeed represents one of my biggest passions, along with art.

Why ZED ?

ZED represented an opportunity to enrich my experience concerning fabric paintings while giving my creations more visibility. Using my art skills to design original pieces and make a job out of it is also something I would have never dreamed of before, that was one of the best suited opportunity for me.

Where did it start ?

I have always liked painting and drawing. I have been customizing clothes for my friends for almost a year. I like the idea that someone is going to wear a piece that they chose, not because they saw it on somebody else, but because they like what I represented there.

Inspirations

Edward Hopper, 20th century artist, ally realism and simplicity in his paintings. Japanese artists such as Hokusaï. I also enjoy one-line drawings.

THÉO GOUDE

Who are you ?

I am a Franco-American artist based in both Paris and New York City. I am a musician, an illustrator, a filmmaker, an editor as well as a proud member of artist collective “NOTNOT”. Uncertainty, imperfections and honesty are subjects that fascinate me and that I hope to showcase in my art.

Why ZED ?

I see ZED as a safe space for people like me. It’s a place where I can pretty much do what I want. The first time I encountered ZED, I immediately wanted to be a part of it. The concept of making unique pieces is inspiring, fun, and refreshing to me.

Where did it start ?

My family is composed of numerous artists or art lovers. Art has always been a part of my education and me drawing is the product of said education. I think it was around 7th grade that I knew in my heart that art was my calling; I didn’t really know how to do anything else, and I always knew that I wanted to be my own boss.

Inspirations

I’m an easily inspired person therefore it’ll be hard for me to list all of my inspirations. What I would say is that my mom, my dad, my brother, my sister as well as my Halmony and the rest of my family have all been great inspirations in art, and in life. My closest friends, anime, and poetry have also had a huge impact on how I write, draw, and see. I hold a close relationship to movies and story-telling music which I believe have shaped who I consider myself to be today.

ZED BISMUTH

Who are you ?

Artistic soul with a perfectly random life, I am a mother with a law education. I keep my cards close to my chest: under a classical appearance, my head is full of thousands of creation ideas, fireworks of creativity.

Why ZED ?

I don't really have a choice :)) I was requisitionned by the Founder of the brand who loves my creations and wanted to diffuse them.

Where did it start ?

It has been going on forever. There has always been a part of me devoted to art: whether it was living it, creating it or admiring it. I was even asked to paint on the walls of my primary school while there, which I did, of course.

Inspirations

Emotions, Klimt, Modigliani, Game of Thrones...
